About

Since this whole blog is about me, it’s hard to figure out what exactly to put here. So with that in mind here is a small over view about me and then some none triathlon info thrown in for good measure.

Shelly and JohnFor starters, I live in a small house in Wauwatosa (Tosa) with my beautiful and awesome bride Shelly. That’s the 2 of us in the picture over there. I’ll talk a little more about Shelly in an up coming post. She warrants her own post since she is my inspiration for getting into triathlons in the first place.

We share our house with 2 dogs; Sprecher and Lucy (the Girls), and 2 cats; Cleopatra and Othello.

Sprecher is the jester of the group and loves to be involved in everything that we do. Because of that she has earned the nickname of coach.
Triathlon coach?!
A job which she takes very seriously!

Not to be left out, we gave Lucy the job of being our cheerleader.

But both of them only get involved with training when we are home and in the yard. Shelly and I have tried to take them running with us, but they just aren’t that into it. I do take the 2 of them for a walk almost every morning though and that is something that they are both very serious about. As of today (1/19/08) we just logged our 125th straight day of walking. And it wasn’t an easy walk to get in since the temp was -2 with a bit of a wind.

And now for some basic facts

  • Name
    John J. Wonders
  • Age
Right now 44, my birthday is in February so I’ll be 45 when I do my first Tri.
  • Height
6′4″ and believe me it’s not always an advantage; there are a lot of vehicles that I really like that I have to pass up because I don’t fit in them and riding on an airplane isn’t that fun either.
  • Weight
251 but slowly dropping, more on that in a future post including where I started.
  • Occupation
IT Manager, if you want the full story check out my LinkedIn Profile for all the details.
  • Hobbies
Besides training for a triathlon, I love to do woodworking and I read a lot. I mostly read books about different world religions / theologies, but I’ve recently read a handful of books about triathlons (go figure).

  • If I missed something that seems worth mentioning I’ll add it as I go along or when it’s brought to my attention.

    Later,
    John W.
