So I’ve finally come to the realization that I need to get back to the basics and really working on my running. It is by far my weakest part of the race.
Don’t get me wrong, my times have improved a little. But that’s it, just a little and nothing more.
And my endurance has gotten a bit better as well, but nowhere near as much as I’d like it to be.
After reading numerous articles in Runner’s World, I’ve decided it’s time to start doing some drills.
Although, the more articles I read the more confusing I was getting for a little while. There seems to be a million and one different ways to improve your time and to train more efficiently.
And then it dawned on me; I just need to take the pieces and parts from all these different training plans that focus on what I need the most work on and that will fit into what I can accomplish.
Okay, I know, according to each one of the plans I should pick that one plan and stick with it if I want to see any real improvement.
Well, for me each one of the plans had things in it that just weren’t right for me. So, I’m going to make my own hybrid plan out of a few of them and well see what happens.
I’m starting this week with the goal to try and improve my time by the Tri-ing for Children’s race. That gives me five weeks, sort of.
This is a taper week; the Bigfoot Tri is next weekend. But I’m looking at that race as a training race for Tri-ing. Although that seems like a bizarre concept for me to be thinking that way… But, hey what can I say; I’ve gotten really comfortable with the Sprint distance.
That doesn’t mean that I’m not going to be giving it my all. Quite the opposite! I’m planning on going all out and hoping to finish in under 1:30.
Later,
