Well I got all the toys; I mean the rest of the gear that I needed for the new bike. And now it’s time to get an appointment so that I can get it fitted.
I really need to do that soon; because now that I took the bike down off the rack and started to mess around with it, I’m really getting antsy to ride it.
If the bike is any where near as fast as what it looks like, I should be able to rip off a good 20-25 mile ride on it the first time. Which I’m going to need to do as part of my training any way.
As of this afternoon, I have settled on what my first Tri is going to be.
And I now have 2 months to get myself in shape and up to speed so that I can complete an Olympic distance.
I was kicking around the idea about doing the Olympic distance race at the end of the season, but I couldn’t find a race that I could go to that wasn’t going to involve a lot of traveling. And by that I mean either a cross country road trip or a plane flight.
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m planning on traveling for a few Tri’s every now and then. But for right now, I’d rather not do that if I don’t have to.
Besides, I’m hoping this will help push me to take my training to a whole new level.
And speaking of training; this past week in Tri-Fit I had something happen that I thought that I’d never see. At the end of the swim segment we do a 100 yard swim for time. Over the past few weeks I’ve seen some improvement, but this past week not only did I see a major jump, I actually beat Shelly. I was happy about it, she wasn’t.
But for right now, instead of speed I need to focus on distance. I have a 1 mile swim coming up in 2 months!
Later,
