It’s Time To Kick It Up a Notch!

March 29th, 2009 · No Comments

So, so far this training season I’ve seen a bit of an improvement in my swim times. And my running is getting a little faster as well. Both of which I’m sure will help me turn in some better times this year.

But, those are the areas that I’m looking to for my biggest improvement.

For that, I’m looking at the bike. Obviously.

And while I’ll still be training on the old Grocery Getter, she’ll be sitting on the sidelines when race day comes from now on.

Shelly got me a shinny new bike this year for my birthday!

It’s a Felt F85 road bike. It’s fresh out of the box and just waiting for me to break her in. Okay, okay, so I did ride it once since I got it. But that was just down the block and back on one of the only days that the roads were all nice and dry.

But since they had just put it together a few days earlier than that, it hasn’t been fitted to me and it still needs some adjustments.

But I can already tell you that this thing is super lightweight and fast! I like it!

Okay, so the lightweight thing goes without saying. Especially when compared to the old Grocery Getter.

I also still need to get a few more toys… err; I mean needed accessories and other vital gear before she is complete. So I’m greatly looking forward to the Bike Expo this weekend.

Then all I need is to have the weather clear up around here so that I can start riding on a regular basis.

And yes, I’m serious; I’ll still train on the old Grocery Getter for most of the year. But I’m not stupid; I’ll get the new bike and ride it a lot as well.

But the way I see it; the faster I can get on the Grocery Getter, the faster I can be on the new bike.

Oh yeah, and according to Shelly I also have to come up with a name for it. I got a few ideas, but I’ll wait till I’ve ridden it a few times before I make up my mind.

Later,

John W.
