Well, week one of Tri-Fit went pretty much as expected. Nothing super great, nothing terribly disappointing about it.
Our rotation for the week was bike, run, and swim. The nice thing about the swim being last (especially in the dead of winter) is that you get to work up a good sweat before you jump in the pool. But even with that the water feels pretty cold.
But back to the rotation;
After not being on a bike since the beginning of November, the leg muscles were a bit rusty. I tried to maintain my normal that I was at the end of last years training, but my legs had other plans.
Then run wasn’t too bad. I pushed myself the best that I could and only took slight advantage of the easy time with a little walking here and there. When it was all said and done I managed to get in 2.8 miles. I just might be able to hit a 5k during one of these training sessions yet this year.
The swim felt good (once I was in the water anyway) and I was able to do all the drills without much difficulty even though I hadn’t been in the water for at least a month. I was even able to shave over 10 seconds off of my previous 100 yard time.
Okay, I admit though, I really felt that after words. As I walked into the shower and went to toss my towel up over the top bar of the shower stall, my arm wanted nothing to do with that type of movement. Gee, you don’t use a muscle for a little while and that is how it treats you!
