So since it’s the “Off season” so to speak, I decided to work on my weak points and make that the main focus of most of my training for a while.
Which means everything pretty much stays the same!
Okay, not really. I believe that my weakest event is the run, so that is going to be my main focus for a little. With swimming mixed in there as to help keep up a nice mix.
Plus I figure those are the two areas that I need to work on increasing my distances on so that I can step up to the next distance.
So this past week I dedicated every other day to running and managed to stick to it.
Monday and Wednesday after work I got in a 5k. On Monday I even managed to have a new training personal record (PR) with a time of 30:51.
That gives me huge hope that my next timed 5k could end up being sub 30 for my official time.
Friday after work I got in another run and as I was headed out I was thinking that even though I felt really good, I shouldn’t push it when it came to the distance and just do a 5k.
Well… I got the point on my route where I would normally turn to start my return trip and I just kept going for some stupid reason. I got about half way down the block, thought hard about turning around, but decided to go for the longer distance.
I cranked out 4 miles and did a fairly respectable time for that distance.
But come Saturday morning, I really felt every step of that extra .9 miles that I did the night before.
Man, I got some serious work ahead of me so that I can get up to running a 10k!
