With less than 30 days to go before my first triathlon, I have all my distances down and I’m feeling pretty good about all my training.
So this past week I started to look back over the journey so far and I couldn’t help but come to one, single, solitary conclusion…
I have lost my mind!
Follow me here as I present the evidence and you’ll see that it is going to be pretty hard to disagree with me.
With just slightly over 2 weeks of training I ran my first 5k back in October of last year.
Then in January, for no good reason other than for the fact that it was there, I ran a 5k first thing in the morning when it was -4 with a wind chill in the -20 to -30 range.
Last weekend ended up being a double whammy.
On Saturday I took a lovely open water swim in water that was anything but lovely with a brisk and breath taking temp of 62 degrees.
Followed by Sunday mornings run in which I stood in an absolute monsoon of a down pour for 15 minutes waiting for the start of the race. And I did so of my own free will!
And you know, I have to say that as insane as all of this is…
I’m having a blast!
Later,
John W.
