First, I’m not sure if the world is ready for this or not…
But vanity has had to give way to necessity and ease of use.
In doing all these Tri-Fit classes I have come to the conclusion that changing after the swim is just a lot more hassle than it’s worth. So the only logical conclusion was for me to break down and get a pair of Tri shorts.
I apologize ahead of time to anyone who may have to witness that, but it is just way easier than the alternative.
And I’m talking about more than the ease of just one pair of shorts for the whole race.
I actually got a pair a few weeks back and tried them out the last time we had the swim, bike, run rotation. But they had a hole in them so I had to send them back and get them replaced.
The following week I swam in my regular old baggy swim trunks and I could not believe the difference it made. Making the turn at the end of the lane it felt like I had an inner tube tied to me.
So now that I have the shorts I decided to do a swim / bike brick on Saturday. Small problem though; as I went to get in the pool at the gym I realized that I didn’t have my goggles with me.
Well, I was already in the water and determined to do this. So I did 5 laps the best I could and called that part of it quits and headed back out to the bike and cranked out 13 miles.
Today Shelly and I went out to the Holy Hill area and did a 21 mile loop. For those that aren’t familiar with that area it is all hills. And I do mean ALL HILLS! Hence the name, but it was great training.
I was a bit wiped when we got back to the car, but I wanted to at least do a short run. I wanted to work on getting my legs back after the ride.
So I did 1.2 mile run, but I made it count a little more by going over and back another fairly good size hill.
So Saturday was a swim / bike brick and Sunday was a bike / run brick.
I’m taking the next few days off!
Later,
John W.
