Pre-Race Route Check

May 26th, 2008 · No Comments

Well, it was a bit of an uneventful week. Not that there is anything wrong with that! But this will be a very short post because of that.

Shelly and I did manage to get one very important pre-race prep thing out of the way though.

We headed out to Pewaukee on Saturday afternoon and got in a bike ride on the course. While it’s not quite as brutal as the Devil’s Lake bike course, it still had its fair share of hills.

Our goal wasn’t to tear up the course and finish it in any kind of record, but just to get a feel for it.

There were a couple of very nice down hill runs along the route though that will definitely help with the overall time come race day. In fact on one of them I managed to get the old “Grocery Getter” up to 38 miles an hour. Which on that old thing was really cruising!

We are planning on ridding it one more time between now and race day. As a bike / run brick. We drove the run course; I’m not sure I want to run that route more than once though!

Later,
John W.
