I know that seems like a no brainer, but you’d be surprised.
And if you ask Shelly or anyone else who knows me, they would say that it would seem like an impossible thing to have happen to me. I drink a ton of water! I have a little coffee in the morning; I can’t resist it because I love the taste, but I have to watch out for the caffeine if I have too much. And of course I have to have a few micro beers from time to time.
But overall from the end of that second cup of coffee till I go to bed I’m drinking water.
Thursday, however, ended up being a bit of a wacky schedule for me.
I had a lot of running around to do before I got in the office, so it was a quite a while before I finally got to my first glass of water. Try though I may to catch up with my water intake, the day was just not cooperating with me.
I got home and tried to pound down a couple more glasses of water before we headed out the door for Tri-Fit, but even I can only drink so much so fast.
To make matters worse, I decided to give the chocolate flavored energy GU a try that night before training. It has caffeine it. Very awesome stuff though and a great chocolate taste.
Well I was feeling good and poured everything that I had into the training. I drank my usual amount of water for the night as well.
But by the end of the night I was starting to really feel dehydrated. So I had some more water and went to bed.
I woke up the next morning feeling like I was hung over after being at an all night party. My muscles ached like never before and I had one killer headache that would not go away.
I flooded my system with water all day long and by Saturday I finally felt good again.
Trust me; I will do everything that I can to make sure that doesn’t happen again!
Later,
John W.
