Literally
But first and foremost; I’m back with a vengeance now that I’m able to train again after that little incident with having my wisdom teeth removed.
Yesterday’s weather turned out to be miserable; it was cold and rainy. Exactly what you don’t want when you have your heart set on going for a long bike ride.
So Shelly and I headed to the gym instead. And since we had time a brick was in order. Although, Shelly has gotten to the point now that she really doesn’t feel like she’s trained hard if she doesn’t do a brick.
Since I believe that this may be the first time I’ve used the term brick I should probably explain what it means. A brick is when you string to training sessions together; a bike and a run, or whatever combo you feel like.
For us, we did a run and a swim. It’s actually nice doing the swim afterwards; even though you aren’t as fresh for the swim, it’s relaxing and seems to help reduce muscle soreness.
Well, we got done with the run and hit the pool. I knew that I had a lot of time since Shelly was working on some of here Team in Training home work, so I figured I’d just start doing laps and see where I’d end up by the time she was done.
Or by the time I was toast.
Well, I managed to pound out my first mile in one session.
Given the fact that I just started swimming again back in November after a 20 year hiatus, I’m pretty happy with that.
I took two short breaks along the way, so it wasn’t a non-stop mile, but it was a mile none the less. And I pounded it out in about 40 minutes which means that I’m right on pace for what my quarter mile time is.
Later,
